A Couple of Announcements

announce.pngYou might have noticed a few addtions to my sidebar.

Firstly, I have set up a library of articles that’s related to what we’re on about here - Info Library.

Yes, they are taken from those free-to-use article sites.

I have mixed feelings about this. The concensus is that using such articles does you no good (the duplication thing and what might Google think and do to you etc., etc.,). But I tend to disagree up to a point.

All the articles I’ve placed here are hand picked by me personally. I’ve read them each and found some value in them. Usually, I found that one out of every five or so articles delivered the goods.

There are some really good writers out there and they write well - so why not share them with my audience.

I’ll trial it out for a few months and see how it goes.

It’s a simple layout and yes, I’ve placed some AdSense in the sidebar (a little coin helps with the upkeep around this place and I can guarantee you it’ll be only a little coin - ebook-type AdWords Ads don’t go for much :-) ).

I hope you get something out of the articles and I urge you to take a look - but I’m not allowed to tell you to click on the ads. :-)

Feedback on the overall concept is most welcomed … ie: tell me what you think, warts and all!

Secondly, I have setup the ePublishing Shop, which is actually a bunch of affiliate products related to this niche.

I didn’t want to slap affiliate links thoughout my posts - sorry Mike ;-) - I like a clean design, and more to the point I’ll be sooner rather than later slapping my very own products on the blog.

So if you’re interested in products and services in this niche and think I have proven myself to be reliable, trustworthy and credible and all those things … then head on over.

No probs from me Martin !

Although you wouldn’t believe the number of people who will buy from your link if you’re honest about it and show them that you are trying to provide value.

It’s a reciprocity thang, for the most part and a little guilty/payback thang.

Hi Martin … just my 2cents..

ePublishing Shop - is good to keep it separate to group all of them together, but I would also post each of them directly in this blog in full (i.e. so people can see it in your RSS Feed) and if people are interested, they can get it.

Info Library - I’m a cynic. I also disagree with the duplication content rule. As a blogger, I too use many articles on my PetLvr site, because it’s suitable for that site (plus I also handpick and read and handpost each one and even test the author’s site links). As a reader, I enjoy having a site that also has some ‘encyclopedia’ type of links, because I’m the type that likes to see it in my RSS feed. If it’s interesting, I pop by and stick around and surf the sidebar. With the library though (nice btw), I wouldn’t post it in full in the main blog .. just a paragraph blurb that you added the new article and a link. There’s no need for duplication of content in here. If people are interested in that part, they can come here and look around.

Mike - what you said: that’s exactly what I’m trying to do here.

I might actually give it a try the next time I write about AWeber. I’ll place an aff link within and see what, if anything, comes of it.

Hart - good idea about posting it here. I’ll do a write up soon - thanks for that tip.

Another good idea about not putting it on here as well. My only link to the library is through the sidebar link. The library is actually a new WordPress installation on a sub-domain from this domain.

What I might do to highlight the articles is to do a weekly round up post.

Thanks for all that Hart, you’re really making me think better.

    Anytime Martin :)

I like the weekly highlight article post idea .. always did like the old ones from the Prehistoric days, (pre e-pub-d)
